Lakes Area Kinship- A Program of Lakes Crisis and Resource Center

“Every kid is just one caring adult away from being a success story.”
Our goal is to improve children’s lives by establishing quality relationships between children and caring volunteers for the purpose of promoting stability, support, friendship, and community. We do this through mentoring relationships. Mentors share a few hours a month for at least one year with their Kinship kid. They can go fishing, sew, work on a puzzle, go to a movie, bake cookies, or go for a walk. The possibilities are endless. The activities themselves are not as important as shared time and relationships that are built.
Join in on the fun and become a mentor today! The life you change might just be your own!

Lakes Area Kinship Mentors

Event Chair: Stephanie Baker

DETAILS:

Change two lives and become a youth mentor! Hang out with an area kid that you are specially matched with. Do fun stuff together, go for a walk, attend Kinship sponsored events, go fishing, go to the park, or just have a chat. The possibilities are endless! The longer you are matched with a child the stronger your bond will grow! We request that mentors are willing to spend time with their mentee at least twice a month for a year. Of course, you are welcome to do more and several mentors regularly meet once a week with their child and have been matched well over a year.  We always have a need for both male and female mentors.  Your Kinship time will be flexible and will work according to your schedule and the mentee’s schedule.

All spots have been filled.

Kinship Sponsored Event Volunteer

Event Chair: Stephanie Baker

DETAILS:

Kinship is looking for crafty, skilled, or just plain old fun people to do events or classes for our Mentors and Mentees! Do you know how to cook or bake? Do crafts or sewing? Gardening or Fishing? The possibilities are endless! If you have a skill and a desire to teach, we will put you to use! Kinship kids range in ages 5-17. Each kid would be accompanied by their mentor for the event and a Kinship staff person would be there as well. Give me a call and we can chat! The schedule for a Kinship Event Volunteer would be very flexible. Kinship sponsored events happen once or twice a month and you would be able to pick the day/month/time of your activity.
